Mark: Hey, folks let’s learn something new about the oil and gas industry.
Today, we’re sitting here with Ardis. How are you doing, Ardis?
Ardis: Hi. I’m doing excellent. Thank you, Mark.
Mark: And, Ardis, you’re the current president of ISA Houston Chapter, aren’t you?
Ardis: Houston section, yes, sir, I am.
Mark: And y’all have an event come up that’s on our must attend event list every year. It’s the ISA Chili Cook Off, can you talk a little bit about that?
Ardis: I would be glad to. On November 10th, we are sponsoring the largest opportunity for distributors and equipment manufacturers to come and show their products at a cook off which we’ll be sponsoring with chili and with beer.
Now, this is at the Houston Farm and Ranch starts at 5:00. And we are so looking forward to having the seventeen hundred people who will be attending the ISA Chili Cook Off.
ISA Chili Cook Off Supports a Great Cause
Mark: Yeah. And so, the money y’all raise goes for a good cause, doesn’t it?
Ardis: Actually, it goes for our scholarship fund. Now, we are so fortunate because last year we were able to give out $100,000 in scholarships to fifty two students. So, we consider ourselves one of the biggest fundraisers for scholarships in the city of Houston after the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Mark: Yeah. So, how cool is that? So, the money goes to really great cause. Now, here is something that you may not think of. In the world of processes and controls, if you work for one of the big EPC companies if you’re a young engineer, you probably had not had a chance to actually touch it hands on.
One of the things I love about the show is I can walk around and the vendors there will actually explain what these equipment is and talk to me about it, so there’s actually a big educational part about it too. Thats why the ISA Chili Cook Off is on our “must attend” list.
Ardis: It is a wonderful opportunity. If you’ve never seen a vortex meter, if you’ve never seen a chromatograph, if you’ve never looked at the inside of a turbine valve, we have all of that at the show. We’ll have six trailers of major vendors like Emerson, Fischer, and Siemens. And you can walk through their trailers. We’ll have Mustang with all their sampling and analysis equipment, all at the ISA Chili Cook Off.
We will have more things for you to do than you will have time in four hours to see.
Mark: And then, one last thing, you have armadillo racing?
Ardis: [Laughs] This year we are so fortunate. And if you’ve never been to an armadillo race, it is an experience unto itself and I would challenge all of you to come and participate.
