We take pride in the fact that our entire company believes in giving something back. Paying it forward is standard business practice for us, and is actually more common than you would think in the oil & gas world. To learn more about Amanda’s company click here

Hey, folks. Let’s learn something new about the oil and gas industry.

So you know what we’re going to talk about today? I bet you’ll never guess. Gift basket. Isn’t this beautiful? There’s a story behind this.

So, here at modalpoint, we always try to give a little something back and we do it a bunch of different ways. We do official mentoring, we’re involved in SPE [STEMS] teaching, we just set up a young professional group in API. But another way that I personally give something back is often I will have people reach out to me, they quite honestly can’t afford my services for whatever reason and I will give them a little bit of free consulting, right? It’s a nice thing to do to help somebody else that’s in a bind.

So a couple of weeks ago, I had Amanda Leese reached out to me from Pax Mondial and Amanda, here’s a shout out to you. I bet you didn’t know you’d be the subject of a blog post. By the way, her company does physical security, so if anyone of you in oil and gas companies that need physical security, reach out to Amanda. I’m going to stick a link on this blog post so you can reach out find her website.

Anyway, so Amanda reached out to me and she was struggling because she was new to the industry and I spent a little bit of time with her on the phone and helped her understand how this industry is different than most others. And then I also gave her some contact information and some pointers on how to start a campaign in the oil and gas which by the way none of you get any ideas, don’t send me a gift basket and expect me to mention in a blog post. It’s not going to happen.

But, back to Amanda’s story. We spent a little bit of time to help her out. She appreciates it, in fact, she appreciates it enough to send me a gift basket which I did not expect. But it’s a way for us to give something back in the bigger picture.

Often in the business world, you lose track of things, right? Because you’re worried about sales, you worry about HR issues, revenue, you know, you got invoices to get out. Sometimes you need to stop and realize that no matter what your religious or philosophical beliefs in this world, sometimes it’s nice to help another person out. And we do that and hopefully that you do too. There’s a sincere sense of satisfaction when you know that you help somebody made their day a little bit better.

So, hopefully this helps. We will see you next time.
