All right. Today, we’re in beautiful downtown Houston and we’re here with Liane LaCour. Hi, Liane.

Liane: Hi, Mark.

Mark: Now, you noticed her last name is similar to mine. We think we’re related, we just can’t quite figure out how, but no way is our relationship have anything to do with this blog post.

So, today we’re going to talk with Liane about OilOnline. So, Liane, how did OilOnline get started?

Liane: OilOnline is actually been on the web – it’s been a website since 1995. So, it was the first informational source for oil and gas industry back when the internet started.

Mark: Wow, 1995. That was back in dial up days, that’s crazy you have that long history.

So, let’s talk a little bit what OilOnline does.

Liane: Okay. OilOnline today is if you would think of if LinkedIn and Monster had a baby for oil and gas. Our idea is to make connections with people in the oil and gas industry so that they can get information that should be a daily one stop for the oil and gas professionals to find out information on news events, training opportunities, jobs, and we also have a section for groups too.

Mark: Yeah, that’s awesome. So, if one of my audience members out there is looking for a job in the oil and gas, you’re saying they can just come to the site?

Liane: They can come to the site. Right now currently we have a couple of thousands of jobs, most of them are with the majors. We have Chevron, BP, Technip, along with about six other companies as well.

We’re meant to be a resource for the oil and gas professionals to find jobs and also not just find jobs, but to enhance their career and enhance their career for training opportunities and networking events.

Really to – whether you’re looking now or you are not looking, but you want to kind of up your professional level, that’s what we provide for our users. We provide just tools and resources to make a person really advance in their career.

Mark: Yeah. And then also, I think OilOnline is a great place to network if you’re in the oil and gas industry.

Liane: That’s true. That’s true. It acts very much similar to a LinkedIn. We wanted to give all the LinkedIn capabilities to users on OilOnline. We wanted to eliminate the noise of having LinkedIn.

LinkedIn really kind of focuses on all professionals and all industries and we want to focus only on oil and gas.

Mark: Yeah. And we love that about you. OilOnline is a great resource in the industry. So, if somebody wanted to learn more, where should they go?

Liane: They should go to OilOnline.com.

Mark: Yeah. And we’ll put a note up in the show notes, folks. You don’t need to be writing notes.

Well, Liane, thank you so much for your time today.

Liane: Thank you very much, Mark.

Mark: Folks, I hope this helped, we will see you next time.
