We sit down with Jeanine (Haller) Piskurich, Chair of the NAPE (North Americian Prospect Expo) operators committee shot on locations at NAPE 2015 and talk about the benefits of attending the show. To learn more about NAPE click here.

Mark: Hey, folks let’s learn something new about the oil and gas industry.

All right. We have a series of three interviews that we shot at NAPE and you may go, “Mark, what is NAPE?” Well, NAPE stands for North American Prospect Expo and it’s one of our favorite shows of the year. There’s actually a bunch of them going throughout the year, but this one is actually the one that was in August 19th to 20th in Houston of 2015.

Now, the reason that we love NAPE, it’s the only show we know where deals are actually done on the floor. It is a show for upstream oil and gas, operators, and landmen, but it’s also a great place to learn about what’s going on in the industry. So, if you have an interest in the oil and gas industry or upstream or operators, you need to make plans to go to NAPE. We go every year, it’s a great show, so hopefully these three interviews help to get a feel for what’s going on. Enjoy.

So, it’s late morning, we’re still at NAPE and we’re sitting here with Jeanine.

How are you doing, Jeanine?

Jeanine: Very well.

Mark:  Yeah. And Jeanine is actually the chair of the NAPE Operators Committee. I want to talk a little bit about today we’re in a low crude environment, but one of the things I think is so awesome about NAPE is you’re bringing businesses together. Can we talk about that a little bit?

Jeanine: Absolutely. You know NAPE is, it was created twenty two years ago, was done in the exact same environment where we are today. It was low crude prices, it was low gas prices and the idea was be able to bring all the right people together in one location and to be able to efficiently look at development opportunities.

Mark: Yeah. And I’ve actually done already a couple of interviews, one with an operator and one with a vendor out there and the optimism already this early is just fantastic. I’m not seeing any doom and gloom, people are happy, people are optimistic and it’s just a great show to see that optimism and also to see the people make these business connections. And one of the things I noticed because I’m not an operator, I’m not a landman is there are a lot of business connections made on the show floor.

Jeanine: There’s a ton of business connections made on the show floor. So, what we’re going to see today is 200,000 acres worth of opportunities that are available, they’re going to be exhibited in about 300 booths. And as of two seconds ago when I checked we have 3,900 for registrants. So, we’re anticipating 4,000 to 4,500 that are here.

And for those connections it’s a smaller more intimate environment so it actually encourages business I think a little bit more because you have room and space to be able to make it through the exhibit hall in a day, a day and a half.

Mark: Yeah. And one other things, folks if you’ve never been in NAPE or if you don’t know what NAPE is about, basically it’s the only show that I know about where people come here with intent to buy or sell something. So a lot of deal is actually made here and how great is that for oil and gas business?

So, another thing that happens a lot at NAPE is something called parties? Do you know anything about that?

Jeanine:  We call it networking.

Mark: Networking. There’s a lot of networking events that go on during NAPE before and after. And so, it’s another place to meet potential business contacts that you probably would have never had the chance to meet before intimate here type of environment.

So, I really appreciate your time today. If people wanted to find out more about NAPE, where should they go?

Jeanine: They can go to NAPE.com or they can go to NAPE.org and we will have the show that concludes tomorrow. And then, in addition for specific opportunities that are on the Denver market, we’ll have a Denver NAPE in December and NAPE Summit back here at the George R. Brown in February.

Mark: Yeah. And that’s the big show, right?

Jeanine: That’s the big show. That’s where trending probably about 15,000 people at that show.

Mark: You have to come with that one, that’s something to see.

Thank you so much for your time today.

Jeanine: Thank you for your time. I’m shaking as it’s comfortable for you to do. I appreciate it.

Mark: Folks, I hope that helped. We will see you next time.
