All right. We’re going to do something different in this show. Really quick we’re going to hit three tactics that can help your business grow from oil and gas vertical.

Number one. Audit your brand. And what I mean when I say audit your brand is look at every bit of collateral that you put in front of clients whether it’s your business cards, your websites, your product brochures, make sure they’re concise all the way across; colors, graphics, names, the way you describe things, it needs to portray you as a very large company.

The reason is the oil and gas industry is enormous and all these companies are used to doing business with other enormous companies, so if you audit your brand, it helps you portray yourself as a very professional type of business that somebody would want to do with. That’s a big step up in as far as growing your business.

Number two. Establish industry credibility. So, you need to know the oil and gas industry. You need to know the segments, you need to know the business drivers, you need to have actually seen the equipment that is used and understand at least at a high level how it works. What do you do if you don’t have any industry credibility? It’s easy. Give away something free. Approach an oil and gas company even when the small independents are working on these fracking places and say, “Look, I have this bit of software. I actually want to grow my business with oil and gas industry, so I want to give it you free and in return allow me to use you as a customer referral.”

If you think like that, you can think a lot of ways to get some industry credibility without spending any money, but you absolutely have to have it.

Finally, number three. Get social. This industry is built upon doing business with other people at a people level. So it’s about reputation, it’s about networking, it’s about being able to talk the talk walk the walk, it’s about being seen. So, industry events, socials, organizations, you know, hit the social media blog, all of that is very important.

So, if you hit those three things; get social, audit your brand, and establishing industry credibility right there, I promise you your business will grow.
