What makes a good salesperson? Many people might believe that sales equals someone who’s outgoing and naturally loves being around and with other people. But there are different personality traits that can prove a boon to sales—all in different ways.

First, it’s important to recognize that we all have a certain combination of things we like and things we don’t that add up to who we are. One of the ways to compartmentalize those traits is through a personality test, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. This series of questions helps to figure out how people will perceive and judge certain standard situations. Those traits in turn may guide others to understand how you deal with other people, stimulus, and new situations, among other things.

If you’ve ever thought about what makes up an ideal salesperson, it’s worth considering personality tests. This graphic helps explain Myers-Briggs and how to make use of it in creating an ideal sales team.
