Mark: Hey, folks let’s learn something new about the oil and gas industry.

I just cannot get my butt to Calgary today to do this in person, so I have Dustin Menger on.

Hey, Dustin.

Dustin: Hey, how are you?

Mark: I’m doing really good. Now, Dustin you were involved with a convention that’s coming up next year that is just fascinating. Let’s talk a little bit, what is GeoConvention?GeoConvention

Dustin: Sure. GeoConvention is an annual event annually held in Calgary. It’s put on by the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists and the Canadian Well Logging Society. So, an integrated event, integrating geophysics, petrophysics, and geology altogether under one roof.

We have three days of technical presentations at the Calgary Convention Center as well as an exhibit floor, networking events, field trips, and courses, and really just a full week of learning. A core conference at the end that, we can’t forget – we can’t forget that. So, it’s truly a – a great experience for all the geosciences information and the way these technologies that are out there.

Mark: So, this is an upstream-centric conference, you also are bringing in stuff that’s important things like HS&E, pipelines. This adds a lot of value to what would normally be just a bunch of rock nerds, right?

Dustin: Yeah. That’s right. So, we really are in tune with the feedback that don’t — get skip us with the marketplace that we’re currently in and really trying to ensure that the content that the folks that join us at GeoConvention, they get not only, you know, the core geosciences content, but truly those strange components that – that make up with – with a modern day geosciences needs to know.

Mark: Right. It’s really about the business, right? Not just the one little piece, but how does – how do you get stuff transported how do you make sure your people are safe.

And, Dustin you did something very nice for our podcast listeners and you also offered it to my viewers which is there’s a discount.

So, if everybody notices that price of crude is starting to creep back up, you need to get your marketing and sales team together, go to GeoConvention this way you can get your – your company in front of prospects potential clients. And the special normally a 10×10 booth is $1,800 and you’re nice enough to offer to our viewers for $1,600.

Dustin: That’s right. So, that’s kind of our, you know, our early bird discount, but we’re going to apply it to – to all the viewers. $1,600 is a very, very low cost in my opinion to – to have access to about 3,300 industry professionals here in Calgary. That’s anticipated attendance here this year. So, yeah, $1,600 Canadian that is, so that’s 30% discount to US right there on top. So, it’s, yeah, it’s a heck of a deal.

Mark: It really is a heck of a deal. It’s one of the things that’s going to be really cool about this, so not just if your service company not just are you going to be able to get in front of prospects potential clients, but your peers are there and you’re going to be able to learn. So, you’re really getting kind of two-for-one deal.

We’re going to put Dustin’s e-mail address in here. Just reach out to him – to him direct and say that you’re a viewer of the – of the blog and he’ll be happy to work with you.

So, one of the other things that’s going on which I think is kind of crazy is are you actually having myself and James Hahn come speak at lunch?

Dustin: We are. The team the volunteer committee that really puts together GeoConvention, we have one individual there who – who listens to you regularly and he – he disseminated your podcast to the team and everyone listened to it thought it was — would be a benefit for GeoConventio. So, we’ll be having you guys up for luncheon on May 15, 2017.

Mark: Yeah. So, if you sign up if you get a booth space, I will give you some free consulting around sales and James can give free consulting, so it’s even a bigger value.

So, Dustin if – when is the conference if people want to find out more where should the go?

Dustin: Sure. So, the conference will run that full week, May 15-19, 2017. The best place to go for all of the specifics is our website, www.geoconvention.com. We also have a lot of social media outlets; LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook that sort of stuff, so be sure to follow those sites.

Mark: Yeah. And, folks there’ll be a link in the show notes so you can just click on it and go check it out.
