Mark: Hey, folks let’s learn something new about the oil and gas industry.

We’re sitting in like one of the coolest buildings I’ve been in Houston. In fact, we may shoot some footage and show you this after the end of the show.          But, anyway I’m sitting here with Thiago with Leych Company.

Thiago:  How’s it going?

Mark: Going very good. Now, you do some fascinating stuff, you and your people and a lot of it is built around?

Thiago: Yeah. So, user experience, it’s kind of the main thing that we do everything, you know, software development, web development, but user experience is what we focused on.

Mark: And so, why is that user experience so important especially in the oil and gas industry?

Thiago: Well, if you’ve worked in the oil and gas industry for a while you know that user experience has never really been a priority, right? It’s about, you know, people like to focus on results and making sure things work. However, we live in a generation when there’s a lot of young people going to the market, right? I like to call them the iPhone generation.

And they expect a certain level of user experience and when they get into the oil and gas industry, a lot of times they’re shocked, you know, and I talk to them all the time that I cannot believe it that this thing looks the way it does, you know, it looks like it was made thirty years ago.

So, one that we like to do is just to help oil and gas companies to improve the user experience of their current applications and also the new application that they’re developing and just try to show them the better user experience can help decrease the number of mistakes that a person can make, can also make people more productive, can decrease the number of steps it takes to do something for example.

Mark: Yeah. And so, he’s actually been really nice, a lot of the user interface you see out there suck, they’re horrible, right? Like somebody has to teach you how to use it and by bringing stuff in that’s intuitive and it’s easy to understand, there’s less steps. You’re right, you’re actually making workflow happen much better.

Thiago: Right. Yeah. So, what I like to say about user experience is that, you know, just by looking at it, you should be able to figure out what’s going on and how to use it, right? If you have a fifty-page manual to use a piece of software, maybe there’s an improvement you can make maybe there’s something wrong there, right?

Mark: Yeah. And so, that’s what y’all do? Y’all come in and y’all look at stuff like that and you make those improvements?

Thiago: Exactly. Yeah.

Mark: So, if people wanted to learn more about you and your company and what you do, where should they go?

Thiago:  So, just go to Leych.com.

Mark: Yeah. Folks, we’ll put a link in the show notes here, so you won’t be writing anything down.

Look, thank you so much for your time today.

Thiago: Thank you, Mark. I appreciate it.

Mark: Folks, I hope this helped. We will see you next time.
