Texas Data Center Map & Tracker 2026 | Who's Building Where
A tracker of data centers being built in Texas: named operator, county, power (MW) with sources, incentive record, and a build-status verdict for each project. Assembled from public county records by ModalPoint. Updated 2026.

Data Centers Being Built in Texas: Who, Where & How Much Power
A running tracker of the data centers being built in Texas — named operator, county, power draw in megawatts (with sources), the public incentive on file, and a plain build-status read for each project. Assembled from public county records, updated as new filings appear.
Power figures are sourced where we can confirm them and shown as “unknown” where we can’t — we never guess a number. Last updated 2026-08-13.

MW figures are external estimates (company, PUCT, ERCOT, trade press), not taken from the incentive record — Texas SB6 bars utilities from disclosing named large-load data, so no one can publish an authoritative MW feed. A “BUILD” read means a confirmed operator + active incentive + a power-favorable model; everything else stays “CAUTION” until power and water are externally confirmed.
How this tracker is built
- Public records only. Named operator → granting government → county appraisal district / zone → Chapter 380/381 or Chapter 312 incentive → status read. Every row traces to a Texas Comptroller record and a pull date.
- Power is always sourced. Megawatts never appear in the incentive record, so each MW figure comes from an external source with a confidence band. No source, no number — we show “unknown” instead.
- Look-alike names are guarded. A ventures firm with a similar name to a data-center operator is quarantined for review, never silently counted.
- Chapter 313 is expired (Dec 2022) and the JETI program excludes data centers, so the county-incentive trail runs through Chapter 380/381 and Chapter 312 only.
Frequently asked questions
How many data centers are being built in Texas?
This tracker follows 16 assembled data-center / large-load projects across 12 Texas counties as of 2026-08-13, built from public county incentive records. It is a floor, not a full census — projects with no public incentive filing (or filed under a different entity name) are tracked separately.
Which Texas counties have the most data center projects?
In this dataset, Dallas (3), Collin (2), Williamson (2), Bexar (1), Ellis (1) lead by tracked project count.
How much power do Texas data centers use?
Per-project power ranges from tens of megawatts to over a gigawatt at full buildout. Each figure on this page is externally sourced with a confidence band; Texas SB6 bars utilities from disclosing named large-load data, so no authoritative public MW feed exists.
Need this for a specific deal, county, or operator?
ModalPoint runs custom Texas large-load and data-center intelligence for site selectors, developers, and vendors — deeper project detail, power and water context, and the projects that never hit the incentive rail.
